Vanity Fair’s 22-page cover story features stunning Annie Leibovitz photos of Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, along with revealing new details. Here’s a preview of the story.
NEW YORK, N.Y.—Speaking publicly for the first time since completing gender transition, Caitlyn Jenner compares her emotional two-day photo shoot with Annie Leibovitz for the July cover of Vanity Fair to winning the gold medal for the decathlon at the 1976 Olympics.
She tells Pulitzer Prize–winning V.F. contributing editor and author of Friday Night Lights Buzz Bissinger, “That was a good day, but the last couple of days were better…
This shoot was about my life and who I am as a person. It’s not about the fanfare, it’s not about people cheering in the stadium, it’s not about going down the street and everybody giving you ‘that a boy, Bruce,’ pat on the back, O.K. This is about your life.”
Jenner tells Bissinger about how she suffered a panic attack the day after undergoing 10-hour facial-feminization surgery on March 15—a procedure she believed would take 5 hours. (Bissinger reveals that Jenner has not had genital surgery.) She recalls thinking, “What did I just do? What did I just do to myself?”
A counselor from the Los Angeles Gender Center came to the house so Jenner could talk to a professional, and assured her that such reactions were often induced by pain medication, and that second-guessing was human and temporary.
Jenner tells Bissinger the thought has since passed and not come back: “If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life. You never dealt with yourself,’ and I don’t want that to happen.”

This morning, dark, dark news from OK! Magazine: The tabloid reports that Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are expecting a baby.
Under most circumstances, this news warrants a big congratulations—not only because the two will undoubtedly spawn the most beautiful child on the planet, but also because Mendes is allegedly seven months along (according to OK!), which calls for a major high five for keeping the news secret that long.
But for those of us out there who have done everything from profess our love for Ryan Gosling by writing long, embarrassing odes and shamelessly creating weird photoshop makeout photos with his image to comparing him to the best cookies on earth and making lists of all of our favorite Ryan Gosling items, this news comes as a bit of a whomp.
It would be wise to remember that this is merely a rumor, since OK! has the intel from one of those trusty “insiders,” but it’s probably best that we all collectively prepare ourselves. The source told the site, “[Mendes has] been ready for motherhood for a while now, and to be sharing this experience with Ryan is a dream come true for her!” Well, duh.
So where to go from here? I feel it’s best to put on a happy face and wish these two beautiful people luck. And then spend the day looking at his abs as consolation.
Update: People Magazine has confirmed the news. Congratulations to the parents-to-be!

Cowboy, take Us away! Just when you think Zac Efron can’t get any hotter, he goes and does something like shirtless horseback riding. The Neighbors actor, 26, looked like a cover model for some steamy romance novel on Monday, July 7, when he and new hookup Michelle Rodriguez went for a ride in Sardinia, Italy, where they’ve been vacationing with friends.
Efron showed off his uber-ripped physique by stripping down to just a pair of black jeans for the adventure. His sculpted abs and biceps were on full display as he and his majestic steed trotted along the sandy shore of a lake, and then into the shallow surf.
At one point during the afternoon, the 35-year-old Fast and Furious 7 actress was spotted looking at pictures on her camera. Efron stood beside her, his hand around her waist as he leaned in close to peer over her shoulder.
